Viagra (generic name: sildenafil citrate) is a highly widely prescribed prescription medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It also treats pulmonary arterial hypertension under a separate brand name (Revatio)
Belonging to a class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors, Viagra functions by enhancing the chemical signaling pathway that relaxes smooth muscles and dilates blood vessels supplying the penis. This selectively increases blood flow, making it significantly easier to achieve and maintain an erection—strictly in response to natural sexual stimulation or arousal

• Strengths Available: Brand-name Viagra is produced in three standard strengths: 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg.
• Typical Administration: The standard starting dose for most adult men is 50 mg. A doctor may scale this down to 25 mg or up to a maximum of 100 mg based on personal tolerance and effectiveness.
• Timing: The tablet should be taken 30 minutes to 1 hour before planned sexual activity. It begins taking effect within 20 to 60 minutes and typically provides a therapeutic window of 4 to 6 hours.
• Frequency Limit: It must never be taken more than once per day.
• Food Effects: Taking it on an empty stomach yields the fastest results. Consuming high-fat meals or heavy food directly before taking it can significantly delay how quickly the drug absorbs into your system
